I make artworks in the genre known as white porcelain. However, the luster that shines like silk on the bottom is the one and only white porcelain that has never existed in the history of white porcelain until now. I was born and raised in Arita, the birthplace of Japanese porcelain, and through learning the history of Arita, I came to know the preciousness of porcelain clay material. I pursued the possibilities of how to make the best use of this material and created the white porcelain of today. I use the word "白妙 (shirotae)" instead of "白磁 (hakuji)" (white porcelain) in the names of my artworks. The meaning of the word "妙" is "excellence" Literally, I coined the term myself as "excellent white porcelain.
