Message from Noriko Hagino sensei I believe this artwork effectively conveys dynamic movement through the gradient lines of black and white, which contrast beautifully with the red hammered lines of copper, creating a sense of sharpness while also evoking warmth.

I use two techniques to create our artworks: tankin (hammering), in which a single sheet of metal is hammered to form a shape, and hagiawase (hard soldering), in which disparate pieces of metal are joined to form a shape. Even in the hagiawase, I use the technique of tankin to create three-dimensional forms rather than combining flat metal. Although people have an image that metal is cold, please enjoy my artworks that have been gently and softly transformed into shapes.
Silver turns black when it oxidizes, but it is an easy metal to use with simple care. Please do not be afraid to use it.
