Message from Kagari Miyoshi sensei
“Lux Aeterna,” meaning “eternal light” in Latin, is a phrase that has been cherished in the Bible, as well as in many works of music and literature.
Several years ago, I was commissioned to create a lacquered cover for the Gospel of Luke. The process of working in quiet contemplation—while sensing the subtle beauty of light and atmosphere in sunlight and moonlight—became a deeply memorable experience.
This small box was created as a reflection of those moments and sentiments.

I have been fascinated by the materials of urushi and shells, and have continued to create the artworks. I believe that the expression in raden (mother-of-pearl inlay) has various possibilities. I am inspired by the beauty of night scenes, the blue of the sky, the azure of the sea, wild flowers, and all other beautiful things. The level of Japanese kōgei is very high and is something to be proud of in the world. I hope you will enjoy and love it.
