ARTerrace Joins “ASUKA III Meets 47 Prefectures” Project with Tokyo Suite Production on the New Luxury Cruise Ship Asuka III
ARTerrace Inc. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; CEO: Tetsuro Shinoda; hereinafter “the Company”) is proud to announce its participation in the newly launched initiative “ASUKA III Meets 47 Prefectures,” a collaborative project developed in partnership with NYK Cruises Co., Ltd. and Anchor Ship Partners Co., Ltd., onboard the new cruise ship Asuka III, which is scheduled to set sail on July 20 this year. As part of the project, ARTerrace has produced the “Tokyo Room,” one of the vessel’s midship suites.
“
ASUKA III Meets 47 Prefectures” is a regionally collaborative initiative in which each of the 47 midship suites on
Asuka III is uniquely designed to showcase the rich cultures and local specialties of Japan’s 47 prefectures. The aim is to create an immersive environment where guests can experience the full breadth of Japan’s regional charm through all five senses.
The concept behind the “Tokyo Room” is “Stories passed down from the Edo period.” In collaboration with master artisans from Tokyo—including those designated as Living National Treasures (Holders of Important Intangible Cultural Properties)—the suite has been adorned with eleven carefully selected works, including Edo komon textile art and other traditional crafts.
We also provided artworks for display in the following guest rooms: the Niigata Room (Room No. 1001), the Yamaguchi Room (Room No. 8075), and the Saga Room (Room No. 8069).
Through this curated experience, we hope to deepen global appreciation for Japanese craftsmanship, while contributing to greater recognition and growth of the traditional craft sector.
