I create three-dimensional artworks with urushi (lacquer). Since I was born and raised in Tokyo, I am good at applying urushi to make the most of materials such as Japanese paper and cloth. The kanshitsu (dry lacquer) technique was used to make Buddhist statues in the Nara period (over 1200 years ago). I have created vessels by applying this technique to the modern age. Just as there are four beautiful seasons in Japan, there are various kōgei in food, clothing, and residence. We hope you will spend your time living with style.
