My fundamental technique is sandblasted engraving, from which I have further developed my own form of expression called “Sen-koku Glass” (Line-Engraved Glass). Through the Japan Kōgei Association, I have had the opportunity to experience various techniques. Among them, I encountered Kirikane (gold leaf line technique), and I was deeply impressed by its delicate linear patterns and expressive diversity. This inspired me to begin exploring my own approach to curved line expression.
Glass is a material that transmits light, and the soft forms created through free-blown techniques are also a defining feature of my work. By taking advantage of these properties, I strive daily to express the invisible—such as wind, scent, the flow of time, and atmosphere—through lines.
Currently, through my glass art classes, I do my best, in a small way, to share the charm and techniques of glass while also conveying the depth of craft. I hope to continue my work at a pace that suits me. There are still many things I want to explore, and I wish to approach each one carefully and joyfully, shaping them into reality.
While cherishing my personal style, I aim to gradually share the beauty and comfort of glass art, expanding its appreciation little by little.
