All of my artworks are rantai (lacquered bamboo) shikki made by weaving bamboo strips. I use bamboo strips, which are less deformable than wood, to make vessels that can be used for a long time, and I decorate them in kinma, a traditional technique in Kagawa. In a country like Japan where resources are scarce, I would like to continue to make pieces that can be used by our children and grandchildren, and I hope that the younger generation will become interested in the field of traditional kōgei. I would like people to experience the quality of my products by not just displaying and appreciating them, but by actually using them.
