I create chagama (tea ceremony kettles) using Wazuku, a traditional Japanese iron.
Employing traditional techniques such as sogata casting with horohiki and melting iron in a kokoro furnace, I aim to create works inspired by modern sensibilities.

  • 1972
    Born as the eldest son of the 2nd-generation Nagano Tetsushi
  • 1993
    Graduated from the Department of Metal Craft, Takaoka National College (present-day University of Toyama)
  • 2002
    Completed training at Kikuchi Hōjudō in Yamagata Prefecture
  • 2003
    Made his first successful entry into the Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition. Since then, he has been consecutively selected for the Japan Traditional Art Crafts East Japan Exhibition, the Japan Traditional Metalwork Exhibition, and the Japan Traditional Art Crafts Exhibition
  • 2004
    Exhibited at the Metalwork Beauty Exhibition held at Keio Department Store, Shinjuku
  • 2006
    Held a two-person exhibition with his senior apprentice, Professor Kei Eda, at Keio Department Store, Shinjuku
  • 2008
    Held the Nagano School Exhibition at Keio Department Store, Shinjuku
  • 2009
    Received the Newcomer’s Award at the Japan Traditional Metalwork Exhibition. In July, participated in the exhibition Shinsengumi ARTIZAN: Tea Utensils by Young Artisans. In August, selected for the Sano Renaissance Exhibition
  • 2010
    In July, participated in the 2nd Shinsengumi ARTIZAN: Japanese Crafts by Young Artisans exhibition
  • 2011
    Received the East Japan Branch Director’s Award at the Japan Traditional Art Crafts East Japan Exhibition. Exhibited at Shinsengumi ARTIZAN: New Age Artiste at JR Osaka Station Isetan Mitsukoshi
  • 2012
    Held the “ART FACTORY’s Elite” Exhibition at the 8th floor Art Gallery of Shibuya Tokyu Selected for the Biennale of the Tea Ceremony Today -Utility and Form- Appeared in former Japanese international footballer Nakata Hidetoshi’s ReVALUE NIPPON
